Kendra Alston, a native of Chapel Hill, NC, is the founder and owner of KOPPERTREE, LLC. Creating a company that catered to the immediate needs of students, educators, community members, and businesses, has been a dream of Kendra's since she entered the teaching profession in 1995.
Her ability to motivate educators to develop and enhance their pedagogical skills and encourage business professionals to refresh their writing skills, is demonstrated in her 20 years of teaching, facilitating, and coaching experience in grades K-12+. She has a B.S. in Elementary Education and an M.Ed in Middle Level Education. Kendra is a Nationally Board Certified Teacher and has succesfully coached teachers through the National Board Process. She has trained over 1500 teachers across North Carolina and the surrounding states in the areas of differentiation, rigor, assessments, parental involvement, socratic seminar, vocabulary instruction, schema activation, and brain based learning.
Kendra has worked with UNC Charlotte as a North Carolina Instructional Coach, where she coached beginning first-third year teachers in Rowan-Cabarrus, Hickory, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Her most rewarding year came when she coached 12 beginning Teach For America Teachers. |
